* **Reliance Industries Limited and Tata Group, NVIDIA** founder and CEO Jensen Huang detailed plans to bring AI technology and skills to address the world’s most populous nation’s greatest challenges.

* The companies will work together to create an AI computing infrastructure and platforms for developing AI solutions. It will be based on NVIDIA technology like the [NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/grace-hopper-superchip/) and [NVIDIA DGX Cloud](https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/dgx-cloud/).

Sharifa Alghowinem, a research scientist at the Media Lab, investigates personal robot technology that interprets emotions in both English and Arabic.

At the Australian National University, Sharifa Alghowinem discovered affective computing and began working on AI emotion detection. As an MIT postdoc with the Ibn Khaldun Fellowship for Saudi Arabian Women, she developed technology to interpret emotions in English and Arabic, calling the lab "my playground." ## Research

### Current artificial neural networks could be replaced with self-learning machines that rely on physics

* Artificial intelligence not only affords impressive performance but also creates significant energy demand. The more demanding the tasks for which it is trained, the more energy it consumes.

* According to the German statistics company Statista, ChatGPT would require 1,000 megawatt hours.

* Neuromorphic computing, a concept explored by research institutions, aims to reduce energy consumption in computers, particularly AI applications, by introducing a new data processing method. ### AI Generation Gap: 70% of Gen Z use it, while GenX and Boomers don't!

* 75% of people who use generative AI use it for work and 70% of Gen Z uses new generative AI technologies.

* According to a new 4,000-person survey by Salesforce, which has been integrating AI into its products for years. Also found: 68% of those who haven’t tried generative AI are Gen X or boomers.

* “There’s a generative AI divide,” says Salesforce senior director of product marketing Kelly Eliyahu. “49% of the population has used it, and 51% has never used it.” [Source](https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnkoetsier/2023/09/09/generative-ai-generation-gap-70-of-gen-z-use-it-while-gen-x-boomers-dont-get-it/?sh=68a5484223b6)

## An A.I. Leader Urges Regulation and a Rethink

Mr. Suleyman also co-founded DeepMind, an A.I. pioneer that Google acquired in 2014. He left Google early last year and joined Greylock Partners, a venture capital firm, where Hoffman is also a partner.

He has written a book, “The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the 21st Century’s Greatest Dilemma”.

It calls for an urgent shift in how we think about and “contain” A.I. Failing to do so, he says, will leave us humans in the worst position: unable to tap into the huge opportunities of A.I. and at risk of being subsumed by a technology that poses an existential threat.
