Microsoft and Paige Join Forces to Develop the Largest Image-Based AI for Cancer Fight
Microsoft is teaming up with digital pathology provider Paige to build the world's largest image-based artificial intelligence model for identifying cancer.
Paige develops digital and AI-powered solutions for pathologists, who carry out lab tests on bodily fluids and tissues to make a diagnosis. Their workflow has not changed much in the last 150 years, but Paige is working to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Paige's viewing tool FullFocus allows pathologists to examine scanned digital slides on a screen instead of relying on a microscope.
Paige, a company that spun out of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2017, has been using Microsoft's cloud storage and supercomputing infrastructure to build an advanced new AI model that can identify more cancer types.
Tencent unveils Hunyuan proprietary foundation model
Enterprises in China can now use Hunyuan through Tencent's public cloud platform and customize it to their requirements.
Hunyuan platform offers robust Chinese language processing, advanced logical reasoning, and dependable task execution capabilities.
Tencent's foundation model has a broad range of functions including image creation, copywriting, text recognition, and customer service.
The application areas for these functions encompass finance, public services, social media, e-commerce, transportation, and gaming.
Generative AI Guidelines for Education Released by UNESCO
UNESCO called upon GenAI providers to shoulder the responsibility of upholding core values and lawful purposes, respecting intellectual property, and maintaining ethical practices.
UNESCO’s guidance focused on ensuring that GenAI does not replace essential aspects of learning.
It also sets an age limit of 13 for the use of AI tools in the classroom and calls for teacher training on this subject. Source
Elon Musk wondered whether spending so much time on Twitter was worth it amid the threat of AI
Walter Isaacson mentioned that Elon Musk contemplated spending less time on Twitter to concentrate on AI and SpaceX.
Musk worried that AI advancements might harm society and thought about using less Twitter to focus on AI and SpaceX.
"With AI coming, I'm sort of wondering whether it's worth spending that much time thinking about Twitter," Isaacson said Musk told him in March at a meeting between the biographer, Musk, and a Neuralink director who gave birth to two of his children.
